NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the WorkplaceThere are some big changes happening in the 2015 Edition of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, and you can study the new standard in detail as of this week.

The 2015 standard is now available to download on the NFPA website. The printed book is available to order but won’t be shipped until October, 10.

Some of the major changes for the 2015 version of the NFPA standard are the following:

  • The phrase “hazard analysis” has been replaced with “risk assessment” to enhance awareness.
  • The elimination of Hazard Risk Category 0 to only show requirements where arc-rated clothing is required.
  • References to the phrase Hazard Risk Category (HRC) have been removed in favor of the term Arc Flash PPE Category.
  • A substantial revision of the PPE table with the goal of simplifying the selection process for the correct personal protective equipment.
  • Removal of the Prohibited Approach Boundary.
